2020 is bringing changes to New York State’s Paid Family Leave Act – Here’s what to expect:

1. Paid Family Leave coverage extended to farm laborers

2. 10 weeks of “job protected, paid time off” for employees to
– bond with a new baby
– care for a family member needing serious medical assistance
– assist loved ones with a family member actively deployed abroad

3. Wage replacement benefit increase to 60% of average weekly wage

Paid Family Leave will continue to offer

1. the ability to return to your job after taking Paid Family Leave

2. the retention of your health insurance 

3. the prevention of discrimination or retaliation by employers for taking Paid Family Leave
